Ayushman Cards for all BPL patients admitted in MGM Hospital Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 12: A significant initiative has been launched at MGM Hospital, where Ayushman cards will be provided to all Below Poverty Line (BPL) patients upon admission, provided they possess an Aadhar card and Lal card. This directive from the state headquarters has set in motion a four-day process at MGM Hospital, with staff diligently engaged in issuing Ayushman cards to admitted patients.

Upon registration, patients are queried about their possession of an Ayushman card. If unavailable, their Aadhar card and Lal card details are recorded in the hospital’s register. Subsequently, hospital staff visit the wards to facilitate the completion of Ayushman card forms, ensuring patients access to comprehensive medical benefits.

Despite East Singhbhum district’s population exceeding 27 lakh, only 9 lakh 75 thousand individuals have Ayushman cards. In response, authorities have mandated the expansion of Ayushman scheme enrollment. Ayushman cardholders are entitled to obtain medications externally if unavailable within the hospital.

Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Hospital Superintendent, emphasized the importance of Ayushman cards in providing patients with free access to tests and medications. The initiative is slated to extend to Sadar Hospital shortly. Dr. Jujhar Majhi, Civil Surgeon, affirmed plans to initiate Ayushman card issuance for patients in wards at Sadar Hospital and Ghatshila Sub-Divisional Hospital. Subsequently, Ayushman card issuance will occur at the community health center level, as directed by the state headquarters.

The facility to obtain Ayushman cards is available across all district hospitals, with data collection currently underway. Work is scheduled to commence from Monday to expedite the process.
