Jamshedpur, Feb 3: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming urban local body elections in Jamshedpur, BJP leader Avinash Singh Raja and his wife Jyoti Singh have announced that they will not contest the Mango Municipal Corporation mayoral election. The decision was made following a meeting with senior BJP leaders.

Avinash Singh Raja shared the announcement through a message on his social media account, stating that BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar President Sanjeev Sinha, along with other district office-bearers, visited his office on Tuesday. The leaders were welcomed with traditional honours. He also held telephonic discussions with former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, BJP state president Aditya Sahu and organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh. During these interactions, detailed discussions were held regarding the mayoral nomination for Mango, after which a consensus was reached to refrain from filing nominations and extend full support to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Expressing his faith and commitment to the BJP, Avinash Singh Raja formally announced his decision to stay out of the race and support the party’s official candidate. The BJP has fielded Sandhya Singh, wife of Neeraj Singh, the state convener of the party’s trade cell, as its supported candidate for the Mango mayoral election.

The move is being seen as a major success for the BJP, as Jyoti Singh—daughter of the Singh Mansion family of Dhanbad—was earlier considered a strong contender, with her relatives, including former MLA Sanjeev Singh and MLA Ragini Singh, actively preparing for campaigning. With this development, the party appears to have strengthened its prospects in the Mango Municipal Corporation election.
