Jamshedpur, July 21: An unidentified conman robbed one Abbas Ali of Old Purulia Road of Rs 32,000 in the name of helping him withdraw cash from an ATM booth.

Sources said the fraud took place when Ali had gone to the ATM booth of Axis Bank to withdraw cash. While withdrawing cash, Ali’s debit card got stuck in the ATM and failed to come out despite several attempts. Just then, a youth standing behind Ali asked him to go to the bank to get his debit card back. Ali followed the advice and went out of the booth to go for the bank. On his way, he received a message showing withdrawal of Rs 32,000 from his bank account. When Ali reached the bank, he was asked to go back to the ATM. On reaching the ATM, Ali saw that the ATM machine was lying open and his debit card was missing. Later, Ali lodged a police complaint at Azadnagar PS.
