Jamshedpur, March 5 : Ichagarh BJP legislator, SadhucharanMahto, who is accused in an assault case on Monday failed to surrender before the police. He was supposed to surrender but police officials said he has failed to do so. Mahto is accused of assaulting Seraikela-Kharsawan district land acquisition officer Dipu Kumar at Raghunathpur under Nimdih police station area in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
A police official said that Seraikela-Kharsawan police have issued arrest warrant against Ichagarh MLA and BJP leader SadhucharanMahto in connection with an alleged assault on the district land acquisition officer Dipu Kumar on February 22 but he is still absconding.
Sources said the police had obtained an arrest warrant against the MLA accused of manhandling DipuKumar at a public function organised to distribute compensation amounts among the villagers of Seraikela. According to information a team of Adityapur police station conducted raids at several places across the district.
�He had announced that he will surrender on March 5 but he has failed to do so. We have issued arrest warrant against Mahto and have launched operation to nab him as he has gone traceless,� said a police officer.
Meanwhile, sporting black badges Government officials under Jharkhand Administrative Service Association ( JASA) have intensified their stir. A senior functionary of JASA protests is being carried across the State.
The members have taken strong note of the attack on its member. The members are sporting black badges to work in protest.
Seraikela sub-divisional officer, Sandeep Dubey who is also a member of JHASA informed a state unit of the JHASA will soon chalk out their further action. � We want immediate action and arresting of the accused. We are going to intensify our agitation,� he noted.
The administration was acquiring land for a project of widening of NH-32. For the NH widening project, the administration is acquiring land from five villages through which the NH-32 passes. According to police, after gathering that Dipu Kumar had started distributing compensation at Raghunathpur, the legislator had first threatened Kumar over cellphone at about 10 am and subsequently arrive at the village in the afternoon and assaulted.
