Jamshedpur, Nov 21: Aspire, the mothers’ wing of the Parents Association of Children with Disabilities (CwD), met the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum on Friday and submitted a memorandum demanding the establishment of a dedicated centre for intellectually disabled, autistic, and neurodiverse children.

Aspire, which has been working for many years in the areas of rehabilitation, community life skills, vocational training and social awareness for special children, has more than 400 members  most of them mothers of children with special needs.

In the memorandum, the organization highlighted that the absence of a proper facility in the city forced many mothers to relocate to other cities for their children’s care and support. Aspire requested the administration to provide a safe centre equipped with basic amenities such as electricity and drinking water to speed up rehabilitation, training and social inclusion of CwD.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Dr. Nivedita Kar expressed hope that the district administration’s support would be a major step in empowering this socially marginalized group and would help CwD lead meaningful and self-reliant lives.

The delegation that met the Deputy Commissioner included Dr. Nivedita Kar, Amrit Kultaj, Bobby Mandal, Mamta Padhi, Indrani Gupta, Mitun Mandal, Priti Sinha, K. Rupa, Harlin Kaur and Pramila Kumari.
