Jamshedpur, August 4: Tata Steel’s Sports Department organised Inter Divisional Chess Tournament on August 3 and 4 at the JFC Media Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Indrajit Paul, Chief Pellet Plant, Tata Steel graced the occasion as Chief Guest with Hemant Gupta, Head Adventure Programme & Sports during the prize distribution ceremony.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 19 Units of Tata Steel. More than 90 players showcased their talent in this year’s competition.
In a display of exceptional skill and sportsmanship, Ashok Kumar from Iron Making emerged as the winner, whereas Brajesh Kumar Sharma from Shared Services bagged the runner’s up position. Ranjeet Singh from Engineering & Projects emerged as the 2nd runner’s up in this tournament.
To ensure fair play and adherence to the rules, the tournament benefited from the expertise of renowned technical officials, including Jayant Bhuyan, Chandan Kumar Prasad, Shoukhin, Aman, Chiranji Lal and Vikram Kumar who performed their roles admirably.
Tata Steel’s commitment to promote sports and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among its workforce was evident throughout the tournament. The event provided an excellent platform for employees to showcase their Chess skills and foster a healthy competitive spirit.
