Ranchi: The Naxalite area commander Charka Munda alias Birsa Munda died during treatment in police custody on Sunday.
He was arrested following an encounter between police and the People�s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) rebels in Kamdara police station area of Gumla yesterday.
The deceased was injured while trying to escape. He had fallen from a hill. He died of critical wounds. Police sent his body to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science for autopsy.
