Ranchi: The Naxalite area commander Charka Munda alias Birsa Munda died during treatment in police custody on Sunday.
He was arrested following an encounter between police and the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) rebels in Kamdara police station area of Gumla yesterday.
The deceased was injured while trying to escape. He had fallen from a hill. He died of critical wounds. Police sent his body to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science for autopsy.
