Jharkhand UCO Bank looted: Gold worth Rs 3-4 crore stolen

An armed gang looted gold worth Rs 3–4 crore and around Rs 8–10 lakh in cash from a UCO Bank branch in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Thursday afternoon.

Five armed criminals executed the daring daylight heist at the Rajdhanwar area branch, located barely 100 metres from the local police station, before fleeing within twenty minutes.

One helmeted member guarded the main gate while four masked accomplices barged inside, holding employees and four customers at gunpoint, according to Branch Manager Rahul Kumar Gaur.

The robbers tied the hands of the staff behind their backs, sealed their mouths with adhesive tape, and forced the manager to hand over the vault keys.

The gang cleared out customer-pledged gold ornaments alongside cash from the opened strong room while bank officials continue to assess the final total value of stolen assets.

The criminals damaged and stole the CCTV system’s DVR unit to destroy digital evidence before escaping from the crime scene.

Police teams launched an active investigation, questioning bank staff and eyewitnesses while conducting search operations across the district to track down the fleeing suspects.

The sensational robbery inside a high-security zone has triggered widespread public shock and raised serious questions regarding local law enforcement arrangements.
