Multiple European flights diverted over bomb threats

European aviation authorities responded to a wave of bomb threats on Thursday as multiple commercial flights executed emergency landings across the continent.

A Finnair flight traveling from Helsinki to Rome received a bomb threat mid-flight, according to Finnish broadcaster Yle.

Pilot crews landed the Finnair aircraft normally in the Italian capital, where inspectors found nothing out of the ordinary onboard.

Three Ryanair flights heading toward Sofia, Bulgaria, simultaneously encountered bomb threats during their routes.

Flight crews requested emergency clearances and landed two of the Ryanair planes safely at Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport.

Ground teams immediately secured both aircraft originating from Copenhagen and Madrid upon arrival in Sofia.

The third Ryanair flight, departing from London’s Stansted Airport, diverted from its original trajectory to Sofia.

Plovdiv Airport CEO Krassimir Peshev confirmed that the diverted London flight landed safely in Bulgaria’s second-largest city.

Emergency crews inspected all affected aircraft following standard safety protocols for bomb threats.

Local law enforcement agencies launched investigations to trace the origin of the false threat communications.

Aviation authorities reported no injuries among passengers or crew members during the emergency procedures.

Normal airport operations resumed shortly after security teams cleared the diverted aircraft and passengers.
