Jamshedpur, Aug 21: Local MP and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda dedicated a 33/11 KV power substation at Potka village under Kharsawan block on Saturday. He also carried out a plantation drive and gave a message of green conservation. On this occasion, Munda said that in the present era, electricity is key to development. He said that under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, the work of providing electricity to every village is being done by the government. Electricity is necessary to increase production and productivity. Electricity has to be used for human resource
He went on to add that years ago the power situation in the area was very pathetic. It has started improving under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana. Officials also inspected the power sub-station built by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited at a cost of Rs 2.14 crore on the spot.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana is a Government of India scheme designed to provide continuous electricity supply to rural India.
The Minister pointed out that India had achieved universal access by connecting every village and every hamlet under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana Scheme and connecting every household. It was the fastest and the largest expansion of access in the world. This had also resulted in the demand for electricity going up rapidly.
According to officials of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited people of 35 villages will be benefited by this substation. During the inauguration program, mainly DC Arva Rajkamal, SP Anand Prakash, former MLA Mangal Soy, Shakuntala Mahli, Rani Hembram, Pramukh Nagi Jamuda, Deputy Chief Amit Keshari, Executive Engineer of Electricity Department Virendra Kisku, Assistant Engineer Sandeep Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, MP Representative Vijay Mahato, Amit Keshari, Uday Singhdev, Ganesh Mahli, Ramnath Mahato, Sudhir Mandal etc. were present.
