Jamshedpur, June 10: A team from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the secretary of Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Rakesh Kumar Singh, on Friday for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe from Garhwa.
On the other hand, a junior engineer of Chaibasa electricity department, Videsh Majhi, was arrested by ACB team for accepting Rs 35,000 as bribe. The team also recovered a sum of Rs 3.12 lakh from the possession of Majhi.
Inspector general (IG), ACB, Murarilal Meena, said Rakesh Kumar was accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe for allotting bidi leaf godown.
The ACB team took Kumar to Palamu and later he sent to jail.
Meena further said, “We had received complaint that secretary was demanding money for allotting the godown and when the matter was probed it came out to be correct.”
A special team of Palamu ACB nabbed Rakesh red handed accepting bribe on Friday in Garhwa and took him to Palamu and was sent to jail after appearing him before the court.
Union Bank general manager Ramesh Balmuchu had complained about JE Videsh Majhi that the latter was demanding bribe money for removing an electric pole.
DSP ACB informed that Rs 2.35 lakh was recovered from engineer’s house, Rs. 45,000 from his office and he held red handed for accepting Rs 35,000 bribe.
A total of Rs 3.12 lakh was recovered from his possession. It was Majhi’s first posting in Chaibasa.
