Jamshedpur, Dec 2: The Adityapur Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the Traffic Police, has launched a joint campaign to clear roadside encroachments along key areas in Adityapur, including the Kharkai Bridge, Akashvani Chowk, Sher-e-Punjab Chowk, Adityapur Thana Road, and Imli Chowk.
The initiative was prompted by frequent traffic jams and accidents caused by the growing number of vendors occupying public roads. Notably, fruit vendors on Kharkai Bridge had become a recurring problem. Despite multiple previous efforts, the situation remained unresolved, leading to further intervention.
Traffic In-charge Rajesh Kumar stated, “The situation was becoming unbearable, and action had to be taken to ensure public safety. We have imposed fines, and further measures will be taken if necessary.”
As part of the campaign, shopkeepers and vendors were given 24 hours to remove their encroachments voluntarily. After this period, the Municipal Corporation will take further action according to the Municipal Act and traffic rules. During the operation, City Manager Ravi Bharti, Tax Inspector Ravindra Ram, and several other officials were present.
