Dhanbad: The plot to murder incarcerated shooter Aman Singh was orchestrated within prisoner ward number 3. Initially planned during Aman’s court appearance, the plot was foiled due to the proceedings conducted via video conferencing. Jail sources suggest an escalating dispute within Aman’s gang, leading to a clash around Diwali with his own operatives.
Aman’s henchman, Ashish Ranjan alias Chhotu, who claimed responsibility for the murder through a viral audio, feared retribution from Aman. In response, Ashish, along with gang members, conspired to execute Aman’s murder, sending Sundar Mahato to jail as part of the plan. Sundar, an Uttar Pradesh shooter, adopted a false identity to carry out the incident.
Upon entering jail, Sundar stayed in Ward 3, alongside Amar Rawani and Satish Gandhi, associates of Ashish. The ward housed only five individuals, including Sundar and Amar Rawani—both affiliated with Aman’s gang.
A few hours before the incident, Aman had a confrontation with Satish Gandhi in the hospital ward, leading to a scuffle. Gandhi allegedly incited Sundar, who subsequently fired all his pistol bullets into Aman.
The post-mortem at SNMMCH revealed a total of 11 bullets fired at Aman Singh. Of these, 4 hit the stomach and 5 the head, all from a close range of 4 inches. Two bullets passed through Aman’s body via the waist. Aman’s demise was attributed to a headshot, with a bullet removed during the autopsy. The examination involved Magistrate Prem Kumar, Dr. UK Ojha, Dr. Aftab Alam, and Dr. Makardhwaj Prasad Sikam, among other pathology and forensic doctors.
