Jamshedpur, Feb 27: Ranchi University’s Examination Department witnessed a four-hour lockout by the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) Ranchi University unit, demanding improvements in departmental operations. Led by Ranchi University President Abhishek Shukla, the lockout protest led to negotiations following which University Examination Controller Ashish Kumar Jha announced an extension for examination form submission until February 29 along with a waiver of late fines. Students failing to submit mid-semester marks were granted a deadline extension until noon of February 29 to rectify the issue and complete form submissions.
In addition, concerns arose at Marwari College’s Economics Department where Political Science subjects were erroneously listed instead of History on student admit cards. AJSU Marwari College President Vishal Kumar Yadav led efforts to resolve the matter, issuing a demand letter to the Principal for swift action. Threats of a lockout at Marwari Mahavidyalaya loomed if the issue was not resolved within 24 hours.
Abhishek Shukla expressed frustration over Ranchi University’s operational inefficiencies, particularly impacting students of the UG session ‘22-‘26. He criticized the university’s recent notification stipulating examination form submissions contingent upon internal marks, leading to complications for numerous students across affiliated colleges. The lack of coordination between the university and colleges exacerbated students’ plight, resulting in repetitive bureaucratic hurdles during examination form submissions.
Members of AJSU students’ wing, including State President Om Verma, and many others, participated in the examination department lockout, emphasizing the need for smoother administrative processes to alleviate student grievances.
