Jamshedpur, Feb 27: Health Minister Banna Gupta lauded the newly announced budget, hailing it as far-reaching and aimed at fostering prosperity even for the most marginalized individuals in society. He emphasized that the budget aimed to uplift those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder, enabling them to live with dignity and support their families.
Minister Gupta highlighted the government’s commitment to bolstering the healthcare system in Jharkhand, revealing plans for the establishment of a Medico City to provide comprehensive healthcare facilities easily accessible to all residents. Additionally, a new medical college was slated to open in Ranchi, further enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
Regarding the Ranchi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Minister Gupta pledged efforts to strengthen the institution, ensuring seamless healthcare services for patients. He announced plans for the allocation of new resources and appointments to bolster RIMS’s capabilities.
The budget proposed a substantial allocation of Rs 7,230 crore for the health sector in the fiscal year 2024-‘25, which the Minister believed would significantly fortify the healthcare department.
He highlighted special provisions in the budget aimed at supporting minor and adolescent girls, including measures to promote their higher education and overall development. The budget also included schemes focused on empowering women, addressing issues such as female feticide and facilitating the higher education of female students.
In a notable initiative for women’s health, the budget allocated Rs 8,021 crore, with additional plans featuring pregnant women. Minister Banna Gupta revealed plans to distribute kits to 6 lakh women, containing essentials such as mosquito nets, soap, buckets, and mugs, aimed at ensuring the well-being of both mothers and children.
