AISSF demands increase in frequency of Jallianwala Bagh Express train

Jamshedpur : Sikh youths today protested under aegis of All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) in support of their longstanding demand to railway authorities in
increasing the frequency of Tatanagar-Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express train at Tatanagar Railway Station platform number 1.

The Sikh community has been demanding either a new direct Express train from Tatanagar to Amritsar or increase in the frequency of the train from bi-weekly to atleast four times a week.

“Over two lakhs Sikh population reside in Jamshedpur and adjoining Adityapur town who experience acute problem in booking berths on the train that connects to our most sacred place (Amritsar) directly,” said All India Sikh Youths Federation (AISYF)’s Bihar-Jharkhand unit
president Satnam Singh.

At present, 18103 Jallianwala Bagh Express leaves Tatanagar for Amritsar junction on Monday and Wednesday and the down train (18104) arrives here on Thursday and Saturday every week.

The AISSF official warned of taking to the streets if their demand is not heeded in the rail budget this year.

The AISSF had been demanding increase in frequency of the train (at least four days a week)and attaching pantry car in the train as it covers a long distance and commuters have to either carry their own food which get stale (especially during summers and monsoon season) as it takes nearly a day and 10 hours to reach Amritsar from Tatanagar.

The food from vendors are not of good quality.
