Administration to study impact of Phailin, Baharagora worst hit

Jamshedpur : Three days of downpour due to the peripheral effect of cyclone Phailin created havoc in the district. Several houses were destroyed while agriculture lands too bear the brunt.

Following orders from the State Government the administration has asked the BDOs to prepare a report on the impact of cyclone and identify people hit by the natural blow.

�Following heavy showers in the catchment areas of rivers Kharkai and Subranarekha, the water level was three feet above danger mark. We have tried out best to mitigate the impact.

However people who has been hit by the cyclone must approach the administration to receive the relief help,� said an official. Sources informed that Baharagora has been the worst hit area.

Several people lost their homes while crop was damage. Local MLA Vidyut Varan Mahato has approached the administration seeking compensation for the people hit by cyclone.

He said that the farmers of the area have suffered a lot and their crops have been ruined due to heavy rainfall.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has convened a high-level meeting here to take stock of he situation following the Phailin effect. �We have already provided a report of crop damage.

There will be a compiled damage report after the Disaster Management department provides its report,� said an official
