Administration takes steps to curb Dengue, isolation ward comes at MGM Hospital

Jamshedpur: �Amidst dengue threat in the steel city, the district health department has asked civic bodies to spread greater awareness and to rope in utility company Jusco for carrying out drive jointly in the city.

An official said the disease was preventable if one could escape mosquito bites and urged the people to adopt precautionary measures such as use of mosquito nets, fully covering the body with clothes, and use of mosquito repellents. As the disease has no established pattern of treatment, the people in the slum areas are weary of preventive measures being taken up in the face of the sprayed of dengue virus.

Meanwhile, a six-beded isolation ward was opened at the MGM Medical College and Hospital in Sakchi for dengue patients. As of now no cases of the vector-borne disease was reported in the state-run hospital but authorities of the heal hub said that the isolation ward was opened concerned over the eight confirmed cases in steel city.

” As of now no fresh cases of dengue have been reported. We have issued an alert across all hospitals to send us suspected samples so that on confirmation treatment for such patients can begin early,� noted an official.

“I have asked instructed the MGM Medical College and Hospital and other private hospitals, to set up isolation wards for the treatment of dengue cases. We will once again check-up the arrangement for treating the patients suffering from the killer disease and also to check the spread of this viral disease,” said an official.

According to experts the unattended filth and garbage spread all over are some of the major reasons that have led to the breeding of mosquitoes. In most cases, the garbage and waste is overflowing for days as the concerned staff do not bother to remove it through the waste lifters. Areas like Jugsalai, Baghbera, Pursudih, Marine Drive, Sundernagar are worst hit.
