Jamshedpur : East Singhbhum district administration is all set to place a high security arrangement with a special focus on eve teasing during the 10-day long Ramnavami.
The procession is scheduled on March 28. In all 159 Akharas will take out processions along with martial arts display on city thoroughfares culminating with immersion at different ghats on banks of Subernarekha and Kharkhai river.
SDO Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan informed that arrangements are in place to provide uninterrupted power supply but said that akharas committee should ensure that electricity pilferage should be stopped and pending amount cleared with power supplier.
The deputy commissioner also asked akharas committee to submit a list of such areas with hanging electricity wires to help Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) officials in installing guard wires on such points. The administration is serious in ensuring first aid and ambulance services during the festivity and the procession.
Directives were issued to all the Akharas committees to strictly abide by the rules laid out in their licences especially pertaining to use of loudspeakers (public amplifiers).
The administration as part of its security measures has decided to introduce electronic surveillance during Ramnavami procession to keep an eye on rowdy elements, who often create nuisance, during the religious procession especially as it passes through communally sensitive areas. A total of 12 CCTV cameras will be put up during Ramnavami procession on March 28.
“We want to ensure fool proof security arrangements. We have decided to install 12 CCTV cameras on important roads. This would be in addition to the CCTV cameras already installed on roads of Sakchi and Bistupur by the district police to keep an eye on trouble mongers. Recordings would be observed by city police at the police control room,” said SDO Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan.
The Akhara committees were also asked to complain about any violation of dry day provision on March 28. The DC has directed all the departments concerned to gear up for the festival and ensure all arrangements to the Akhara samities before the festival gets start.
At the Sakchi island, a watchtower would be erected to keep vigil on the movement of Ram Navami processions passing through the area.
Senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar said that all police stations have been asked to interact with local akharas committee on a regular basis for a peaceful festival.
District administration has fallen back on corporate help to tide over water exigencies during Ramnavami festival earlier it was only Jusco who was asked to provide water through tankers to various akharas taking out Ramnavami processions.
But this time different corporate sectors have been asked to provide water tankers for water supply in their nearby areas.
