Jamshedpur, Dec. 4: A 40-year-old widow Sonamati Kui is suspected to have been killed by her paramour near her residence at Jagannathpur in Adityapur under Gamharia police station area in the wee hours of Friday.
Sonamati body was found in a pool of blood near her house. The widow lived with her three children; eldest among them is 18-year-old Subhas Kui. Police suspect that the widow was murdered by her paramour because she has been pressing him to marry her.
The officer-in-charge, Gamharia police station, Adikan Mahto said that the widow had an illicit relation with a 25-year-old youth named Rabi Hansda and the victim wanted to marry her paramour against the wishes of the latter. The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
In another incident, a 23-year-old youth identified as Lakhan Karmakar died on way to MGM Medical College and Hospital from his house at Belajuri under MGM police station area. The youth sustained severe injuries when he was attacked by an unidentified group last night.
Lakhan, tractor driver by profession, was going to his employer’s house for submitting the report of his day’s business at Belajuri, when his employer, identified as Guhiram Karmakar, asked son and nephew to assaulted the victim with sticks and iron rods. The duo thrashed Lakhan, who was a distant relative of the accused so severely that he sustained fatal injuries.
According to Lakhan’s relatives, his mother Gurubari Karmakar rescued him from the attakers and took him to a nearby clinic, where the attending doctor advised her to rush Lakhan to the MGM Medical College and Hospital.
A police party led by officer-in-charge, MGM police station Anuj Kumar reached the victim’s house at Belajuri with an ambulance and was transporting him to the MGM Medical College and Hospital, but he succumbed to his head injuries on the way.
