ADB to fund Rs 520-crore for integrated sewerage and road beautification in Mango

Jamshedpur: Asian Development Bank (ADB) � an international development finance institution for Asia and Pacific�has decided to fund Rs 520-crore for the integrated sewerage, drainage and road beautification in Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC).

State food and civil supplies minister and Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy said that the detailed project report (DPR) of the Asian Development Bank funded integrated sewerage, drainage and road beautification project has been prepared jointly by Delhi-based Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit System Limited (DIMTS) and Tata Consultancy Engineering (TCE) for the entire Mango area. The DPR presentation was done before stakeholders comprising MLA, administration and MNAC officials yesterday.

�It is an ambitious project and we are looking forward to make it success. We have also raised few apprehension and also gave suggestions which would be incorporated in the final DPR and presented again before stakeholders on August 5,� said
The integrated drainage and sewerage project after consent of the stakeholders will be sent through MNAC to state urban development which will then route it to Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (Juidco) for implementing the project.

State food and civil supplies minister and Jamshedpur West MLA, Saryu Roy, along with East Singhbhum deputy commisisoner Amit Kumar and Mango Notified Area Committee special officer, Rajendra Prasad saw the presentation of the Rs 520-crore Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded integrated road, sewage and drainage project for Mango at district collectorate. During the presentation, the minister suggested few alterations to the detailed project report (DPR) which has been built by private consultants TCE and DIMTS.

� As per our plans the private consultants would be presenting final DPR at district collectorate on August 5. After which their DPR will be sent through MNAC to state urban development department. After consent of urban development department it will be sent to Juidco for execution like floating of tenders and forming of SPV in starting the project. If all things falls in place, the project is likely to begin at ground level from November this year. Usually, such projects are completed in 24 months,� said MNAC special officer, Rajendra Prasad.

The project will have three sewage treatment plant proposed near MGM, Kapali and Baliguma and integrated pumping stations. The project will also strengthen and widen a total of 130 km of 17 roads across Mango and develop six parking bays near major roundabouts and traffic junctions.

At present there are no dedicated parking bays anywhere in Mango leading to traffic congestions especially on Old Purulia Road, New Purulia Road and portions of Dimna Road.
