Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri took charge of overseeing the Abua Housing Scheme during a comprehensive review meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur. With a staggering 1,30,000 applications received from all blocks, the scheme aimed to provide housing benefits to eligible homeless citizens.
Having achieved 90% verification of beneficiaries, Bhajantri emphasized the urgency for Block Development Officers and Circle Officers to expedite the verification process to reach 100%. The goal was to release the first installment to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by January 29, 2024, aligning with state government guidelines.
More than 1 lakh 30 thousand applications have been received from all the blocks regarding the state-supported Abua Housing Scheme, in which about 90 percent of the beneficiaries have been verified.

Under the ‘Abua Awas Yojana,’ a state initiative, each eligible family was entitled to a three-room house with a minimum area of 31 square meters, inclusive of a sanitary kitchen. Significantly, the houses were mandated to be registered in the name of the female head of the family, ensuring women’s empowerment in property ownership.
To meet the housing needs, the scheme offered a total assistance of Rs 2.00 lakh per unit, disbursed in four installments. Additionally, provisions were made for toilet construction assistance through collaboration with Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM) or other dedicated sources.
Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, SDM Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaideep Tigga, ADM Law and Order Rajeev Ranjan, SOR Deepu Kumar, DCLR Ravindra Gagrai, and District Public Relations Officer Mr. Rohit Kumar, along with other officials, attended the meeting. While district-level officials participated in person, officials from various blocks joined the meeting through video conferencing, reflecting a collective effort to ensure the successful implementation of the Abua Housing Scheme.
