Jamshedpur, Feb. 26: The ten-day programme organised by Purnima Netralaya, Tamolia on the occasion of its 14th annual day and birthday of Guru Mata Purnima Devi concluded on Sunday.
Live surgery of cataract operation was done through phaco method where famous doctors from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa participated.
Phaco (Phacoemulsification) is a modern cataract surgery in which the eye�s internal lens is emulsified with an ultrasonic hand piece and aspirated from the eye. Rs 10 thousand is a cost for each eye operation.
The team of doctors carried out 11 surgeries on Sunday. On the first day of the camp on February 16, 21 patients were operated.
Total of 86 patients underwent free cataract operation from 16 to 26 February. During the live surgery doctors gave detailed information about the cataract operation. On the occasion Dr. Monica Horo and Dr. vivek Kedia said, live surgery of retina, Glaucoma and children eye was shown.
Doctors informed that several eye patients from Jharkhand along with West Bengal and Orissa visit the Purnima Netralaya. On the concluding day of the camp Dr. RC Pal, Dr. Monica Horo, Dr. Vivek Kedia, Dr. DK Singhal, Dr. Rahul, Dr. Aseem Seel, Dr. Krishnendu Nandi, Dr. Chirag Bhatt, Dr. Surendra Prakash, Dr. Manish Singh, Vishwajeet Dey and Dr. Anindya Anuradha were present.
The Brahmananda Seva Sadan will provide free eye care in 100 villages of Seraikela-Kharswan and East Singhbhum district.
Free eye care will be provided to the villages by Purnima Netralaya with the support civil surgeon all round the year.
