Jamshedpur: Jharkhand State Mahila Congress Committee is all set to put up vehement protest against the state governments decision to sell liquor in Jharkhand from 1st August onwards. The outfit members will be launching a massive statewide campaign to oppose the move.

This was informed by the state president of the committee Abha Sinha on Sunday during a meeting held at the Congress headquarters in Ranchi.

Addressing the meeting, Sinha alleged that the state government wanted to impose its anti-public policies on the people of the state. She said a year back the CM had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to end liquor trade in the state in his speech. But today, the CM himself seems desperate to start liquor business while sitting at the helms of the government.

Women are being neglected all over the state. The BJP-led government is fueling this neglect. If the demand for ban on liquor trade in Jharkhand is not fulfilled, Congress members would be gheraoing the residences of the CM in Ranchi and Jamshedpur in protest, said Sinha.

The state president further said that International Womens Day falling on 8th March would be celebrated as Main Hoon Indira, a programme to pay tributes to the former Congress leader, to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi this year.

A host of programmes would be celebrated round the year by the Women Congress members. Sinha further said that the organization needed to be strengthened in the state.
