Jamshedpur: Significant progress has been made in bringing out-of-school and dropout children back to the education system in Jharkhand, including East Singhbhum district. According to data from the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), 54,130 children have been successfully enrolled in schools in the 2024-25 academic session. This accounts for 83.19% of the target to reconnect 65,065 children, with efforts underway to achieve 100% by the end of the session.
“Efforts in most districts to enroll out-of-school and dropout children have been fruitful,” stated State Program Manager Binita Tirkey. “The department is closely monitoring the process to ensure that every child is connected to the mainstream of education this year.”
Impact of initiatives like Project Impact, Prayas and School Ruar
The success of this initiative can be attributed to programs such as Project Impact, Prayas and School Ruar, which focus on improving attendance and re-enrolling children in schools.
Under the Prayas program, detailed records of student attendance are maintained in each classroom. Monthly registers track absenteeism, categorizing children based on the number of days they miss—3 days, 15 days, or 30 days. These records are used to implement targeted interventions to bring absent students back to school.
The School Ruar program has also played a crucial role in identifying and addressing the causes of absenteeism, ensuring students remain engaged with their education.
Deadline set for January 30
The state government has set a deadline of January 30 for achieving full enrolment. A monitoring team, led by 24 state-level officials, is visiting all 24 districts to oversee the implementation of the program and ensure that no child is left out.
These efforts aim to make education accessible to every child in Jharkhand, helping reduce dropout rates and fostering a brighter future for the state’s youth. With only 16.81% of the target remaining, officials are optimistic about achieving 100% enrolment by the end of the session.
