70 % percent Jamshedpur people denied basic facilities: Dr Ajoy Kumar

Jamshedpur, Jan 7: Congress leader and former Jamshedpur MP Dr Ajoy Kumar, a permanent invitee of Congress Working Committee has written to Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren saying that 70 percent of people of Jamshedpur are not getting basic facilities. 

The letter states that there are many such settlements in Jamshedpur, which are in non-company command areas, which are not being given due attention by the Tata company. There is neglect in the matter of basic facilities for the people. As per 2011 Census of India Jamshedpur urban agglomeration has a population of 1,337,131 and out of which maximum 70 percent people are living in non-company areas and various settlements of Jamshedpur. There are many non-company areas like Jamshedpur (Industrial Town), Jamshedpur (NAC), Tata Nagar Railway Colony, Mango, Jugsalai, Bagbera, Chhota Gobindpur, Birsanagar, Haludbani, Sarjamda. 

“There is no uniform strategy by the Tata company to provide infrastructure facilities to non-corporate areas in Jamshedpur. The people of non-corporate areas of Jamshedpur do not get basic facilities like good roads, better electricity, even good water. Tata company is earning Rs 12000 crore profit from our Jharkhand soil (according to Tata Steel’s data of September 2021), then why is it hesitant to spend some money on 70 percent of the people of Jamshedpur and give a better life?” the letter asks. 
 Dr Ajay requests the Chief Minister to direct the Chief Secretary to discuss these issues with the officials of the Tata Management and take assurance from the Tata Management that the company will develop 70 percent non-corporate areas in Jamshedpur. and provide basic facilities like good roads, better electricity, even pure water and Tata management should also share a detailed plan with the government in this regard.
