7 BJP Jamshedpur leaders acquitted over lack of evidence

Jamshedpur, March 17:  Jamshedpur civil court on Monday acquitted seven BJP leaders in a 13 year old case.

About 13 years ago, in 2012, during the Bharat Bandh program of the BJP in Jamshedpur, seven BJP leaders, mainly former president of Jamshedpur city BJP Gunjan Yadav, Vikas Singh, Rajesh Singh, Manoj Singh, Sunil Singh, Suraj Narayan and Tony Singh were made accused in the case of vandalism in the State Bank of India Mango branch and obstruction in government work.

In the case that lasted for 13 years, advocates Malkit Singh and Manpreet Singh had defended the BJP members and declared them innocent. On the other hand, the then manager of the State Bank of India, Mango branch and the then SHO of Mango police station had testified in which they had only stated that the former BJP leader Vikas Singh was the one who identified them.

Advocate Malkit Singh, while defending the accused, said that all the allegations levelled against them were baseless.

The advocate claimed that these people were only passing by the bank during the strike, supporting the Bharat bandh.

As the court could not find any concrete evidence, First Class Judicial Magistrate Arvind Kumar of Jamshedpur Court acquitted  Gunjan Yadav, Vikas Singh, Sunil Singh, Rajesh Singh, Manoj Singh, Suraj Narayan, while one of the seven accused, Tony Singh, was murdered a few months ago, due to which he was excluded from the case.
