54 trucks loaded with illegal coal seized, six arrested

Dhanbad: In a significant operation against illegal coal activities, the Dhanbad district administration has seized a staggering 54 trucks loaded with illegal coal. The operation, conducted by the District Mining Task Force, unfolded from 11 pm last night to 4:30 am on Monday, targeting various locations along the GT Road.

The seized trucks were found to be carrying a substantial quantity of illegal coal, totaling 1350 metric tons, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 1.5 crore. This marks the largest action taken against illegal coal operations in the district, representing an unprecedented seizure in terms of both the number of trucks and the quantity of coal.

During the operation, six individuals were apprehended, including five drivers and one assistant. Notably, several other drivers managed to escape from the scene. The district administration has intensified its efforts against illegal coal business in the region, with this latest operation being part of a two-day raid campaign. In a previous operation on Saturday night, 12 trucks loaded with illegal coal were also seized.
