Khunti: A decision has been taken to release 50 undertrial prisoners in Mandal Jail. There are currently 600 prisoners in the jail. This decision was taken in the meeting chaired by Dalsa President-cum-District and Sessions Judge Satyaprakash on Wednesday.
There was a discussion in the meeting of the Undertrial Prisoner Review Committee, in which many important decisions were taken. It has been decided to release prisoners sentenced up to seven years on bail. Dalsa secretary Manoranjan Kumar said that this decision has been taken in the meeting of the Undertrial Prisoner View Committee.
The undertrial prisoners lodged in the jail have already served seven years of their sentence. However, the prisoners will be released on bail as soon as possible. Many officers including DC Lokesh Mishra, SP Aman Kumar, Jail Superintendent Nisha Karketta were present in the UTRC meeting.
