Jamshedpur, Aug 27: A 45-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death near the Water Treatment plant on Sakchi-Mango road under Sakchi police station area. Her body was recovered on Thursday morning. The deceased was later identified as Budhi Bhuiyan, wife of Nibaran Bhuiyan, a resident of Chhaya Nagar in Bhuiyadih Sitaramdera police station area.

The woman’s head was hit with boulders and there were marks of injuries in other parts of the body. The police said this to be a case of murder that must have taken place late in the Wednesday night.

” We are investigating the incident and it is too early to comment but this seems to be a case of murder. The victim was an scrap picker and it seems that the murder took place due to differences over picking up dump,” said OC, Sakchi police station, Kunal Kumar. He said after talking to the victim’s family members they have picked up one suspect for interrogation. Based on the victim’s husband it appears that there were more than one assailants involved in the murder.

A relative of the murder victim while talking to the media persons said that the victim Budhi Bhuiyan had gone out for picking the scrap on Wednesday afternoon and in the evening she had a fight with other pickers.

” She used to go for picking up iron regularly and this was nothing new. However, we came to know that the dispute between Budhi Bhuiyan and others had turned serious and both sides attacked. But in the morning, we found her body lying near the Water Treatment Plant in a pool of blood,” said the relative.
