Corona Concern: 5 deaths in Jamshedpur, 163 positives

Jamshedpur, Aug 25:�Coronavirus cases crossed 34,000 mark in Jharkhand with 1085 new positive cases on Thursday, August 27. While the tally is nearing 5900 mark in Jamshedpur with 163 fresh corona cases reported till the filing of this report late on Thursday evening. �

6 patients died of Coronavirus while 1085 new cases were reported in Jharkhand on Thursday. Positive cases have climbed to 34396 while 368 people have lost their life due to the virus in the state including 6 on Thursday.

Jamshedpur continues to top the casualty list with 5 patients losing their life on Thursday. One from Latehar succumbed to the virus on Thursday.

441 people have recovered and were discharged from various COVID hospital�s across the state on Thursday. Around 23000 people have recovered in Jharkhand till date while around 11000 active cases are still present in Jharkhand.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 5800 mark.     

163 new cases were reported on Thursday, August 27 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 5891. 57 people recovered of the virus on Thursday in Jamshedpur.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 163 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Thursday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.

More than 200 people have died of coronavirus in Jamshedpur till the filing of this report on late Thursday evening including 5 deaths reported on August 27.

The number of deaths in the East Singhbhum seems to have more than just doubled in a period of four weeks. If 37 deaths were reported in the district in July in August alone 166 people have died because of the virus. The total number of deaths has crossed 200. On average six have died per day in the past one month.  

The medical in-charge of Jugsalai Community Health Centre, who was fighting the war against Corona, lost his life on Thursday morning. He became positive while treating Corona patients. He was then admitted to Tata Motors Hospital. The victim was also suffering from diabetes. There is a wave of mourning among the doctors after the death was reported. State Vice President cum of Indian Medical Association, and District Tuberculosis Officer Dr AK Lal, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Dr Sahir Paul and other officials have expressed grief over the sad demise. The wife of the deceased doctor is also Corona positive. He is also undergoing treatment at Tata Motors Hospital. Many employees of the Jugsalai Community Health Centre have been tested positive for Corona.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.

The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.

The order said that �All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.�
