Jamshedpur, June 2: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old man committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his house in Sankusai under Ulidih police station area on Thursday.
The man, identified as Dulal Gorai, was brought to the MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency, where he was declared as brought dead.
Expressing shock, the deceased’s son, Chhotu Gorai said that his father was in a room and suddenly he started screaming. “Though we tried to open the door, no response came from the room. Suddenly, father opened the door and ran to the courtyard. He was burning.
Though they poured waters on his burning father and subsequently rushed him to the medical college hospital, wrapped in a cloth.
A doctor who attended Gorai at the hospital emergency said that he was burnt almost cent percent. The relatives said Dulal Gorai was a mason by profession and would take petty contract in building construction activities.
Sakchi police station assistant sub-inspector of police, Kundan Ram, who was posted at the MGM Medical College Hospital, said that the deceased was in financial crisis. He had started consuming liquor in depression.
The police said this to be a case of suicide and have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
