44,000 students to appear in matric and inter exams, DEO issues instructions

Jamshedpur : The East Singhbhum district education department is all set for the matric examination starting from February 16. This year there are 25012 matric examinees who would appear from 67 centres and 19343 intermediate students at 34 centres in East Singhbhum.

The number of centres have been increased to provide students a better ambience to answer their examinations. Lesser number of centres result in crowded classrooms and seating arrangements which increases the risk of malpractices for students.

The district education department this year has organised a number of remedial classes both for matriculation and intermediate. Special classes were also conducted in Science subjects in mathematics, Physics and Biology where students had performed very poorly. Teachers were also specially deputed in rural areas where there were dearth of teachers.

“We have tried our level best to help teachers and students. I hope the results would be better both for matriculation and intermediate. The rest can only be said after the examination is over and when the results are out,” said an official.

A special squad with about 18 zonal magistrate and 50 static magistrate would be deputed to keep the examinations free from unfair means.

Meanwhile, the district education officer, East Singhbhum, R.K.P. Singh have issued instructions to all centre superintendents to ensure proper arrangements for intermediate and matric examination.

The district education department has already instructed centre superintendents to ensure that the exam centre is equipped with the best available infrastructure like electricity, drinking water and proper desks and benches.

The DEO said that they have also increased the number of centres to let students answer their paper comfortably. The district education department has ensured proper desks and benches so that classrooms are not congested.

Students will not be allowed with cell phones. If found they will be kept with the security officials. There will be sufficient number of policemen at one centre and a patrolling officer for three centres, noted another official.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made for exams. The district administration has already deputed static magistrates in each of the examination centres while there will be 18 zonal magistrates who would look into the smooth examinations. There would be five to six magistrates who would be patrolling the centres for surprise checking.

We have been strictly asked not to allow cellphones in the campus. We have acquainted him of our issues concerning the security and infrastructure,” said a centre superintendent.
