43-year-old police constable dies in a road mishap at Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct. 14 : A 43-year-old police constable died in a road mishap after being hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw on Sakchi-Telco road near the Golmuri Police Line gate under Golmuri police station area.The victim identified as Rohan Kumar Yadav was admitted at the Tata Main Hospital on Sunday night, but he succumbed to his injury in the wee hours of today.

The constable met with ill-fated incident as he was coming to the police line by foot from the adjoining Golmuri market for attending night duty, Golmuri police line when the mishap took place.

The auto-rickshaw driver, however, managed to escape with the vehicle, leading the police to search for the auto-driver.

Golmuripolice station OC, Ranvijay Sharma said that they are investigating as to what led to the mishap.

“The victim, Rohan Kumar Yadav, was posted at the Golmuri Police Line. He used to stay in a staff quarter on the police line premises, but he had gone outside the police line in the evening.  As per our probe, he was returning back to the police line for attending the night call, he was found lying near the police line gate,” said Sharma.  He said they have heard that aautorickshaw hit the constable.

The OC said as it was night, the victim kept lying on the roadside for a considerable time, and when some passer-by discovered that he was a mishap victim, then only the fellow cops arrived there and rushed him to Tata Main Hospital at about 9 pm.

The constable had sustained head injury and had turned senseless on being hit by the speeding auto-rickshaw.The police have seized the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary post-mortem.
