Jamshedpur, Sept. 6: The number of Covid-19 cases crossed 8,000 marks in the East Singhbhum district with fresh cases being reported on Sunday. In order to ensure early detection of the deadly virus, the district health department has decided to conduct as many as 40,000 tests for COVID in four days from Tuesday.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting district administration at Jamshedpur Collectorate on Sunday prior to the visit of a Centre health team at the steel city on Monday. The officials decided to conduct random checking with a target of 40,000 tests.
“We have decided to conduct random tests with focus on those areas from which the maximum number of corona cases.� We have already identified such areas.� The random test of the people will begin from September 8 to continue for four days,” said district civil surgeon, Rajendra Nath Jha who was also present at the district administration. �
Jha pointed out apart from carrying out the random tests, the district administration will ensure steps of maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks in such areas so that spread of Coronavirus from the hotbeds can be curbed effectively.
In the last 24 hours, more than 244 people were tested for coronavirus positive, thus making the total number of COVID-19 cases in the East Singhbhum district to 8,038. During this period four, including a woman also succumbed to the deadly virus, thus making the total number of deaths from the Covid-19 in the district to 227.
While 244 new COVID cases were reported during the past 24 hours, 322 infected people were recovered and returned to their homes after getting discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recovered persons in the East Singhbhum district is 6,693.
Notably, most of the Covid cases are coming from the localities like Kadma, Sonari, Sakchi, Jugsalai, Mango, Azadnagar and Bagbera.
A district health department confirmed that fresh cases of COVID deaths have been reported from the COVID-designated hospitals. ” The tentacle of Coronavirus is very much in the steel city and in the rural pockets of the East Singhbhum district. But it is for certain that if the people start to pay utmost attention in maintaining social distance, keeping one’s hand sanitised again and again and wearing a mask, the Coronavirus has to go soon,” said Jha.
