4000 buses to operate for Gangasagar Mela, Transport Minister to monitor from Sagardweep

Kolkata: The West Bengal government has announced plans to operate a total of 4000 buses during the Gangasagar Mela, which will take place from January 12 to January 17. Of these, 2500 will be government buses, while approximately two thousand non-government buses will also be pressed into service for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Gangasagar during this period.

Transport Minister Snehasish Chakraborty shared this information during a press conference at Transport Bhawan in Kasba. The arrangements will commence ahead of Makar Sankranti and continue until January 17. Additionally, prepaid taxi services will be available at Outram Ghat of Babughat during the fair.

In addition to the extensive bus services, 32 vessels will operate from lot number eight to Kachubedia and other locations. The state government is also coordinating the operation of all barges and ships from 21 jetties to facilitate the crossing of large vehicles over the river. Transport Minister Snehasish Chakraborty will personally monitor the transportation arrangements from Sagardweep during the Gangasagar Mela.
