Jamshedpur, Sep 28: Tragedy struck as four persons, including a woman, were killed in two separate road accidents in Bodam police station area of East Singhbhum district on Tuesday. A total of 14 people were also injured in the mishaps. All were rushed to MGM Hospital. At the same time, after the accident, the traffic was disrupted following the protest of the villagers on the road.
According to the information received from Bodam police station, two bike riders were injured in a bus accident near Haludbani camp of Bodam police station area on Tuesday morning. One of them died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Niranjan Singh, a resident of Bota village in Patmada. The injured Satyendra Singh was admitted to TMH where he died.
The bike riders were going towards Jamshedpur via Bodam. On the other hand, a pickup van full of laborers overturned uncontrollably near Dubrajpur of Madhavpur Panchayat of Bodam, killing Lagan Manjhi and woman Simti Murmu. The van was on its way from Bhikhari Chalama in West Bengal to Jamshedpur via Bodam in Patmada. After the incident, the villagers blocked the road.
The mishap took place when the van driver suddenly hit the brakes near Vanadih due to which the van overturned. The women were thrown on the field off the road.The injured were admitted to the hospital with the help of villagers. Most of the injured suffered head, leg and back injuries.
The villagers removed the road block after getting assurances from the police-administration officials and local public representatives of proper compensation.
