Chaibasa, May 14: A passenger vehicle (van) collided with a truck parked near a crusher at Baihatu on Chaibasa-Chakradharpur road in West Singhbhum district leaving three passengers dead and one critically injured.
Three youths including the driver died in the mishap, while one youth was seriously injured.
After primary treatment in the hospital, the doctors referred the seriously injured youth to Jamshedpur for better treatment. The incident happened late on Tuesday night.
The three deceased have been identified as Seenu Purti (36 years), resident of Baihatu village of Mufassil police station area, Shivram Hembram (30 years), resident of Pasuhatu village and Ganga Jarika (35 years), resident of Lota village of Pandrashali OP. The injured Jagdish Hembram (40 years) is a resident of Pasuhatu village.
Villagers said that four persons were coming to the petrol pump in Chaibasa on Tuesday night to fill petrol in the van. Meanwhile, on the way, near the crusher located at Baihatu, it hit a truck parked on the roadside from behind.
On getting information about the incident, the nearby villagers reached the spot and after a lot of effort, all four were taken out from inside the vehicle. The front part of the van has been badly damaged.
They were rushed to Sadar Hospital, where three youths died in the Sadar Hospital during treatment. Doctors said that the condition of injured Jagdish Hembram remains critical.
On getting information about the incident, the Mufassil police station in-charge reached the spot at night with the force and seized the crashed van and brought it to the police station. On Wednesday, the police got the post-mortem of all the three bodies done and handed them over to the family members.
