Jamshedpur: Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, a district-level task force meeting on dengue control and prevention was held at the Collectorate Auditorium. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Nagendra Paswan, reviewed current measures to combat the disease and charted further strategies.
Officials reported that 28 dengue cases have been detected in the district so far. Immediate monitoring and targeted prevention activities have been undertaken in hotspot areas to curb the spread. The DDC emphasised that all government departments, private institutions, and urban bodies must strictly follow schedules for anti-larva spraying, cleaning drives, and public awareness campaigns. Hospitals were instructed to submit daily reports, treat every suspected case seriously, and ensure swift action.
Public participation was identified as a key element in the campaign, with instructions to involve local representatives, school and college students, and voluntary organisations. Awareness activities such as street plays, poster campaigns, and community meetings will be intensified. Special attention will be given to inspecting construction sites and waterlogged areas, along with regular treatment where needed.
The DDC also directed continuous fogging in urban areas, drain cleaning, and measures to eliminate stagnant water. Public messaging on dengue symptoms, testing, and treatment will be expanded to ensure people seek timely care.
The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC) Krishna Kumar, DMO Dr. A. Mitra, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, representatives of private hospitals, companies, Jusco, voluntary organisations, and MOICs.
