Chaibasa, May 14: National Lok Adalat was organized at Chaibasa Civil Court on Saturday under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on the instructions of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA).
A total of 2579 pending cases were disposed today and a sum of Rs 1.72 crore was collected in revenue. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Principal District and Sessions Judge Vishwanath Shukla, ADJ I Om Prakash, ADJ III Shyam Nandan Tiwary, DLSA Secretary Rajeev Kumar Singh and the block development officer Parul Singh.
The District Judge gave cheques worth Rs 20 lakh to six persons under Victim Compensation Scheme.
DLSA sources said Upbhokta Adalat (consumer court) was also organized today. Various cases pertaining to motor accident claims, electricity cases, compoundable criminal offences, civil cases and family cases were disposed today, said the DLSA Secretary.
