Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 17: Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand are on the rise with 56 new positives reported on Wednesday, June 17. The total positive cases in the state now stand at 1897. Jamshedpur which has been leading the state tally reported five new cases on Wednesday. The total cases in East Singhbhum have climbed to 277. All the five positives in Jamshedpur have travel history. Three people have returned from Delhi while one each have come back from Mumbai and Kerala. All the five were in institutional quarantine ever since their return to the district. Three of the positives are resident of Mousabani and one each from Ghatsila and Zakirnagar. Jharkhand on the other hand reported 56 new cases while a 24-year-old women died of Coronavirus.
The deceased woman is now the 10th death in Jharkhand due to Coronavirus. Resident of Malsiring in Pithoria, Ranchi succumbed to the virus at RIMS in Ranchi. The deceased woman’s husband is also COVID-19 positive and is under treatment at RIMS isloation ward. According to reports, the woman was admitted to RIMS couple of days back and later shifted to COVID-19 ward after testing positive.
56 positives in Jharkhand were reported from Koderma 24, Hazaribagh 19, Jamshedpur 5, Lohardaga 3, Ranchi 2, Ramgarh 2 and Gumla 1. The total cases in Jharkhand is around 1900.
Out of which 1,479 cases have been found positive in migrants. The active caseload including those in hospitals and isolation centres is 708. Meanwhile, a total of 122 persons were discharged from hospitals and Covid-19 care centres after recovery yesterday.
On the other hand a Corona suspect person died in Hazaribagh, the report of which is still awaited.
Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state. Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.
