Dhanbad: In a significant development, the court of POCSO Special Judge Prabhakar Singh delivered its verdict on Saturday in a case involving the rape of a minor. Sanjay Rajak, also known as Bhutta Rajak and a resident of Jaynagar Barwada, has been sentenced to twenty years of imprisonment along with a fine of fifteen thousand rupees.
The case, which led to this verdict, originated from the FIR filed by the victim’s mother. According to the FIR, on April 12, 2023, at 3 am, Sanjay Rajak, accompanied by his associates, forcibly entered the victim’s house, broke the door, and abducted her on his motorcycle. The victim was allegedly held in captivity for a week during which Sanjay Rajak forcibly engaged in physical relations with her.
The police, after an investigation, filed a charge sheet against the accused on June 29, 2023. The prosecution presented its case during the hearing, examining eight witnesses to establish the charges against Sanjay Rajak. The court, considering the gravity of the offense, pronounced a stringent punishment of twenty years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of fifteen thousand rupees on the accused. This verdict serves as a testament to the legal system’s commitment to ensuring justice, particularly in cases involving crimes against minors.
