Bharat Bandh called on April 7 for Sarna Dharma Code

Jamshedpur: Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan has declared a Bharat Bandh on April 7, demanding the implementation of the Sarna Dharma Code. The announcement comes after a prior Bharat Bandh on December 30, 2023, advocating for the same cause. National President of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan, Salkhan Murmu, stated in a press conference held in Kadma on Saturday that if the Sarna Dharma Code is not introduced by March 31, they will initiate another Bharat Bandh on April 7, which will involve blocking rail and road traffic.
Murmu emphasized the significance of the Sarna Dharma Code, stating that it is crucial for the approximately 15 crore nature worshipers in India. He argued that it is the lifeline for the survival, identity, and participation of tribals. Murmu accused both Congress and BJP of depriving tribals of their religious freedom. He pointed out that the provision for Sarna Dharma Code was present until the 1951 census, but Congress removed it. He further alleged that the BJP is attempting to forcibly convert tribals into Hindus.
A letter has been written to President Draupadi Murmu regarding this matter. The Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan is resolute in its demand for the Sarna Dharma Code, and the proposed Bharat Bandh on April 7 aims to draw attention to this crucial issue affecting the tribal community.
