Jamshedpur, June 1: A total of 16 houses were razed to the ground on the orders of the SDO Dhalbhum on Thursday after facing defeat after filing a BPL case on behalf of the department for illegal construction of houses on government land in Govindpur Khakripada of Sadar block.
Four magistrates were also deployed. Jamshedpur circle officer Amit Srivastava was also present on the spot itself.
The notice was already given to the people who had built houses illegally on the government land. Even after giving the notice, when no initiative was taken from the encroachers, then on the orders of the SDO, a drive to remove the encroachments had to be launched on Thursday.
BPL case was already going on against all and all have lost in the case. Only after this such initiative has been taken by the administration.
Earlier, the work of razing the houses built on government land in Gadra area of Parsudih was also done by the administration. This campaign was carried out in the presence of heavy police force.
