1450 jawans from Jamshedpur deployed for first phase election duty in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, May 10: As the first phase of Lok Sabha elections approaches in Jharkhand, slated for May 13, significant preparations are underway in East Singhbhum district. A total of 1450 jawans from Jamshedpur have been mobilized for election duty, highlighting the commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure electoral process.

However, the surge in deployment has led to operational challenges, notably affecting the availability of Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles within the city. With a shortage of jawans, 26 PCR vehicles have been stationed at the Central Control Room (CCR) premises, leaving only 7 PCR vehicles for patrolling duties across the city. Despite the reduced number, these vehicles will operate without designated areas, responding to incidents as they arise throughout Jamshedpur.

To maintain security measures, ASI rank officers from the Home Guard and other district forces have been entrusted with overseeing city security. The patrol strategy involves flexible deployment, with the seven available vehicles instructed to cover the entirety of Jamshedpur in response to any reported incidents.

Moreover, in anticipation of the elections, vehicle impounding activities have commenced in the city. Numerous buses have been seized, primarily near Mango bus stand, for subsequent use in transporting jawans during the first phase of elections. These buses will be temporarily utilized for election-related logistics and will return to regular service post-election.
