Seraikela, June 10: The court of Special POCSO Act Judge Amit Shekhar sentenced 12 convicts of a gang-rape case to rigorous life imprisonment here on Friday.
The convicts, Ramesh Kumar Singh, Vrindavan Kumhar, Virendra Mahali, Parshuram Mahali, Ramesh Kumar, Mahadev Kumhar, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Sukhen Singh Sardar, Maheshwar Singh Sardar, Badrinath Singh Sardar, Sanyasi Das and Gurudhar Mahali, were booked for allegedly raping a minor girl in Marine Drive at Kapali under Chandil police station area on 28th August 2019. The girl was out on a drive with her friend in an SUV. The accused persons had beaten and threatened away the minor’s friend and thereafter gang-raped her.
A total of 21 witnessed were produced in the court. Besides, 29 documentary evidence and 16 other evidence were produced in the court. The court has also ordered compensation to the rape victim.
