SHORTS – the annual short film festival of Jamshedpur gloriously completed 10 years in November 2017. The idea pioneered by Jamshedpur based Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) and Kolkata based Take 5 Communications way back in 2008 now is in its second decade.
SHORTS 2018, the 11th edition of the much awaited festival, would be arriving in the steel city on November 24. The two day festival boasts of a creative bouquet of thought provoking short films by some very talented film makers – both professional and budding.
This year the festival has films on subjects like women empowerment, water conservation, road safety, noise pollution, old age crisis, menstrual health, cleanliness, humanity…to name some. Many of these films have travelled to National and Intentional Film Festivals. The duration of the films range from a minimum of 4 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes, the languages being Hindi, English, Bengali, Santali and some are silent films. The entries are from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur…..Meet Vasudevan (Mumbai) with KHWAHISH, Mini Pandey (Delhi) with SMILE VS. SMILEYS, Sanjivan Nath (Kolkata) with THE WALTZ, Omer Farooq (Dhanbad) with DUPATTA and Nikhil Sharda (Jamshedpur) with THE BEST GIFT are some professional film makers who would showcase their creations in SHORTS 2018 alongside some young and dynamic budding film makers.
This blend of new and experienced film makes has been the USP of the festival which have attracted the film buffs of Jamshedpur year after year towards this festival. SHORTS 2018 to be held at the Centre for Excellence (CFE) from 5.00 pm on November 24 and 25 promises to be a treat for all eyes and as always would have much food for thought.
