Cloudy sky and breeze in Jamshedpur give brief respite from heat

Respite from heatwave soon, cloudy skies, rain forecast for Jharkhand

Ranchi: On Friday, Jharkhand, including Kolhan, experienced a shift in weather patterns as clouds dominated the skies since morning. By noon, Jamshedpur and nearby areas witnessed a mix of sunshine and shade, providing respite from the scorching heat. A light drizzle was reported in Jamshedpur and surrounding regions in the morning. The forecast predicts rain accompanied by thunderstorms in most districts except Chatra and Latehar, prompting an orange alert across the state. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 40-50 km per hour.

Residents of Jharkhand, including Kolhan, welcomed relief from the prevailing heatwave and humidity on Friday. However, some districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, and Daltonganj, continued to experience heatwave conditions, with Garhwa recording the highest temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius. Conversely, temperatures in several districts, including Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and West Singhbhum, remained below 40 degrees Celsius. In Jamshedpur, the maximum temperature reached 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius. Similarly, West Singhbhum recorded a temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, Saraikela at 32.5 degrees, Baharagora at 27.4 degrees, and Ranchi at 35.6 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists predict rain accompanied by thunderstorms from June 1 to June 4. An orange alert has been issued for most districts, excluding Garhwa and Palamu, on Saturday. Rainfall is expected in Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Ramgarh, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahebganj, East Singhbhum, Simdega, and Saraikela-Kharsawan on June 1 and 2. Wind speeds during this period are anticipated to reach 40-50 km per hour. Additionally, thunderstorms are likely in the northeast regions, including Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahebganj, on June 3 and 4.
