Kolkata / Jamshedpur, Oct 15: In a significant development for railway passengers in Jharkhand and neighboring regions, Arun Joshi, member of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), raised multiple demands to improve passenger services at the ZRUCC meeting chaired by South Eastern Railway General Manager Anil Kumar Mishra in Kolkata today.

Joshi called for the Shalimar–Jaipur train to start via Tatanagar and proposed running a Vande Bharat Sleeper Addition train on the Howrah–Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus route via Tatanagar.

He also suggested adding 2–3 AC sleeper coaches to the Tatanagar–LTT Antyodaya Express and upgrading it to a superfast category.

Among other proposals,  Joshi urged the Howrah–Rourkela Vande Bharat Express to halt at Ghatsila station and recommended operating one round of the Ranchi–Howrah or Rourkela–Howrah train on Tuesdays, as trains currently bypass Tatanagar on that day, causing inconvenience to passengers.

He further emphasized the need to carry out primary maintenance of the Tatanagar–Itwari Express at Itwari, increase reservation quotas on key trains, and accelerate the doubling of the Tatanagar–Badampahar railway section, a crucial route for both mineral and passenger traffic.

Highlighting operational issues,  Joshi pointed out delays affecting passenger trains in the Chakradharpur division and urged measures to improve punctuality.

He also requested the expedited completion of the  Rs 400 crore Tatanagar coaching depot renovation and intervention to resolve ongoing parking disputes at Tatanagar station.

The General Manager assured that all suggestions would be considered positively and acted upon.

Joshi stressed that passenger convenience must remain the top priority for the railways, noting that millions travel daily from Tatanagar, Ranchi, and other stations in Jharkhand and nearby areas.

He urged prompt implementation of these measures to provide tangible relief to railway passengers.
