Jamshedpur, Dec 5: Socio-cultural organization YUVA under its programme, ‘Nazaria Badlo’ (Change your outlook), a movement against gender bias, organized a run-a-thon for young girls on Saturday. The run was flagged off by Zila Parshad Chandravati Mahto. More than 150 young girls covered a lap between Hata and Haldipokhar in which Sushila Sardar of Chakdih emerged the winner. She was followed by Snehlata Sardar and Seema Bhumij in the second and third places.
YUVA secretary Barnali Chakraborty while conducting the programme informed that the run-a-thon was a part of the 16 day worldwide programme against gender bias related violence. Elaborating, Barnali observed, “Through this programme on gender bias, people are being made aware of the social ills, stigmas and physical violence and bias unleashed against women, girls, physically challenged persons, trans-genders, homosexuals and lesbians. Society has to change its outlook towards these sections of society as they too have a right under the same sun.”
YUVA members present on the occasion included Jyoti Hembram, Anjana Devgam, Chandrakala Munda, Rila Sardar, Kajal Nayak, Gita Sardar, Avanti Sardar, Maino, Mukhiya Dipantari Sardar, Panchayat Samiti member Urmila Samad, Prafulla Bodra, Gurucharan Sardar, Anil Bodra and others.
